The Gang Alternatives Program (GAP) is an organization whose mission is to prevent youths from getting involved with gangs and crime. For 3 weeks, GAP provided a summer youth employment program for teens out of the Boyle Heights Technology Youth Source Center. Our Summer youth employment programs allow teens to help clean up their neighborhood, removing trash off the streets, overgrown weeds off sidewalks and walkways as well as go through fun career development workshops.
The Summer of 2025 we were able to sign up our youths to the music production workshop provided by Theatre of Hearts; Youth First artists mentors. Our SYEP youths participated in a lyric writing workshop lead by Baltimore hip-hop artist (BossmanTheGod) Travis Holifield and award winning films music composer Joe Goldberger. They were so great! They taught the kids about hip hop, music production and gave them the opportunity to experience how fun it is to write lyrics and record a song.
With the support of our trusted partners, GAP’s Seasonal Youth Employment Program (SYEP) allow teens in the Los Angeles area to get involved in awesome opportunities and inspire positive lifestyle choices.
