What's Happening

The Gang Alternatives Program (GAP) and gangfree.org unveils its new image!
After many months of tireless effort and dedication by a number of industry professionals and Gangfree staff, gangfree.org is proud to launch its new Web site and integrated marketing campaign ofThe Gangfree Life®. The motivation to revamp its image got a boost early last year, when GAP was awarded the services of Women in Film Los Angeles (WIF) to produce its first ever Public Service Announcement.

"We were honored to be chosen unamiously by the WIF organization, and were amazed by their commitment and personal interest in our Gangfree mission," stated Doug Semark, Executive Director for GAP, gangfree.org. "Our goal was to take their vision and design aesthetic, and incorporate that into all of our existing marketing pieces. But thanks to the efforts of our PSA director Karen Lavender, and producer Romell Foster-Owens, the entertainment industry has embraced our mission. We had an outpour of industry services that allowed us to expand our marketing plan."

The PSA also inspired some unexpected pro bono talent. "I showed the PSA to my daughter, Evangeline (Semark Lemoine), who's a graphic design strategist in Chicago. She said, 'Dad, this is amazing. Now we have to make Gangfree.org look just as amazing, so kids will recognize your brand, and look for [the organization's] support online." And just like that, she was on a plane to Los Angeles to donate a week of planning for the Web site and overall identity. She has contributed months of production talent ever since. We never imagined that our organization would make an impression on such a wide variety of industry professionals."

The new marketing campaign includes:

  • Revamped Web site, including gangfree.org's first ever youth portal
  • New logos and identity
  • Public Service Announcement
  • New theme song
  • Bilboard campaign
  • Radio campaign
  • Marketing campaign
  • Roll out of The Gangfree Life® and The Gangfree workplace®

The gangfree.org campaign can be seen and heard on various Southern California media channels and online, and will be marketed in a variety of sectors. The majority of our marketing campaign pieces were created by donated talent from a variety of professionals.
